Kärcher K2 Full Control Home Pressure Washer Review
Karcher’s range of pressure washers include units that are suitable for small scale washing applications. One of them is the Karcher K2 Full Control Home Pressure Washer.
In the Karcher review below, we explore the capabilities of this very popular model and give recommendation on its best applications so you can make an informed decision if it is the best option for you.
Quick summary: The Karcher K2 Pressure Washer is one of the most affordable pressure washers you can buy and has proven perfect for cleaning cars, bikes, garden furniture and even small patio areas. The new wheeled design and telescopic handle are an improvement in the old design. Overall it's one of the best entry level models available and the 2 year warranty is extra bonus.
Specifications, features & whats included
First off, the Karcher K2 Full Control Home Pressure Washer brings the idea of “Full Control” into reality through it four pressure settings.
4 Pressure setting
One is the Mix – the lowest setting that is perfect for application of detergent. Next is the soft setting which gives a wider yet powerful spray ideal for damage prone surfaces such as wood. Medium setting is the typical choice for a majority of cleaning tasks such as cars and bikes. The last one is the Hard setting, which produces a narrow targeted spray jet to deal with stubborn dirt on patios and driveways.
Light weight design and on-board storage
Due to its lightweight construction, this pressure washer is very easy to use. Weighing a mere 4.3kg, combined with wheels and long telescopic handle, you can pull this unit to and from the job area even over rough terrain such as gravel. It also features on-board storage to store the power cable, trigger gun, the two lances and high pressure hose. This makes for a neat unit without the hose and wires getting in the way when stored away and its compact design ensures it can fit neatly into a corner without taking up to much space.
Powerful 1400w air cooled motor
Speaking of performance, the K2 Full Control machine is equipped with a 1400 watt air cooled motor that runs efficiently to produce 110 pressure bar. The maximum flow rate is 360l/hr which is quite inadequate compared to larger models such as Karcher K5’s but seems to be more than enough for cleaning cars, bikes and small patios. But when cleaning a larger area, the unit can quickly be moved from one location to another due to its small size. The figures, however, are best suited to small cleaning jobs.
This machine features a pressure trigger which comes in handy whenever you will want to engage it. The air-cooled motor also features automatic stop/start function to help regulate the flow of water and prevents the motor from running consistently which helps prolong the life of the motor.
Features detergent suction tube for deep cleaning
You may have a stubborn stain that has been glaring at you for a while now. For this, the Karcher K2 home set includes a bottle of stone and façade detergent with 3-in-1 formula to remove grime from affected surfaces. There’s a detergent suction tube that allows you to siphon detergent from an external source such as direct from the bottle.
Includes Vario lance, dirtbuster lance & T150 Patio Cleaner
To add extra value for investment, the Karcher K2 Full Control model is supplied with a few handy accessories. You will find a Vario lance that will enable water pressure control from low to high or vice versa. A Dirtblaster is also provided to help you combat tough dirt. Last but not least, there’s a T150 Patio Cleaner to help with cleaning the patio and driveways.
Includes 2 year warranty for full peace of mind
It also comes with a 4m hose with quick connect connector so you get to work immediately. Of course, Karcher offers great warranties for all their products and this one enjoys a 2-year cover.
The Kärcher K2 Full Control Home Pressure Washer is indeed an awesome pick for those small cleaning tasks and is probably the most affordable pressure washer we have ever reviewed.
It has a 1400 watt air-cooled motor that runs efficiently unless it’s exploited, the key here is not to overwork it and use it as intended.
The unit is laden with practical features such as on-board storage, home kit including patio cleaner and detergent, and variable pressure settings. This is an improvement on the old K2, it still has the same motor, pressure rating, hose length but they have improved the design with the wheels and telescopic handle for better mobility.
Any homeowner in need of a lightweight pressure washer and one that can handle a few cleaning jobs at a time can make use of the K2. Just make sure you don’t overwork it as it can’t cope with too much abuse.
The only real drawback we found, was the 4 meter hose, this is ok for cleaning a small car, washing off bikes and cleaning a small patio but when trying to clean a larger car or patio you have to consistently move the washer around which can be a little awkward, specially when you have the suction tube placed in a bottle of detergent as you have to move them all around at the same time which can be tricky.
If you plan on cleaning anything bigger than a small car or medium sized patio area we strongly suggest you upgrade to the K4 pressure washer as it comes with a longer 6 meter hose and has slightly better performance in terms of pressure etc.
All in all, a great pressure washer at an affordable price and the 2 years warranty is an extra bonus.
